- Sugar-free gum, that's gastrointestinally friendly?
- Q: I had a friend ask me about sugar free gum. Shes on a diet and doesnt want to go with anything too high in calories/overall energy. But shes got a sensitive digestion system. Anyone got any information that might help? I've come up with this much:She had mentioned wanting to know about sugars in sugarfree gum and trying to avoid laxitive like sweeteners. There are only few gums that dont use them.Sorbital, used as a laxitive-sugarfreegum (orbit, extra, basically almost everything)Maltitol, laxitive- if anything, worse than sorbitol (Eclipse)Sodium alginate(gum), maltodextrin(atypical sweetener), ECLIPSE FLASH, winterfrsh thin ice, should be good, low energyXylitol, altoids sugarfree gum(cinnamon only!!), some brand named SPRY very good for you, 2/3’s energy of sugar. Not so diet friendlyI recommended the eclipse flash or winterfresh thin ice. The Sugarfree cinnamon altoids uses a sweetener that is in particular very good for you, but not as diet friendly.
- A: She's better off chewing regular gum or none at all. I also have sensitivity to fake sugar. Fake sugar can make you bloated and gassy as well. Plus, a little sugar should not harm her effort to lose weight.
- Is it good for a pregnant woman to eat or drink things that have artificial sweetners?
- Q: My wife just got pregnant and we were wondering if sugar free gums and diet sodas were good for her to drink. Or other stuff with artificial sweeteners like splenda.
- A: I have a brochure from my doctor's office of things okay to eat or not and when it comes to sugar this is what it says: honey and all artificial sweeteners all carry risks to pregnant women. If you need something sweet, the best thing to have is regular sugar. (in moderation of course) so I would stick to regular soft drinks and regular gum because the worst that can happen with that is she will gain a few pounds-but no risk of damage to the baby.
- Is it okay to chew gum while on a diet?
- Q: Hi everyone. Right now I'm on a diet and trying to lose 10 to 20lbs. As part of my diet I'm eating a lot of healthy foods and avoiding foods filled with unnatural chemicals. Is it okay to chew sugar-free gum, lets say Stride for ex, when you get a snack craving. I now sugar free gum has a lot of chemicals in it but I figure its better than giving in to snacks. Anyway, if any of you with diet experience could shed some wisdom on me, it would be greatly appreciated!
- A: yes, sugar free peppermint gum apparently stop cravings a little, as peppermint is meant to supress them, (which is why lots of dieters drink peppermint tea)i do this, it does stop me snacking and keeps me occupied x x
