Q: I allow other's actions to get me upset or mad. How does one just let things go. I want to be a more mellow person and not worry about stuff. Especially when people play games with me. Thanks for any advice.
A: It's clear that you need some skills that will help you manage your stress, anxiety and depression... http://www.attackanxiety.comDepression is a mood disorder that causes you to feel sad or hopeless for an extended period of time. More than just a bout of "the blues" or temporary feelings of grief or low energy, depression can have a significant impact on your enjoyment of life, your work, your health, and the people you care about. Depression affects people differently. Some feel down for extended periods of time; for others the feelings of depression come and go. If you have short episodes of mild depression, you may be able to continue to work and take care of daily activities. However, if you do not seek some form of treatment for your depression, you are at risk for getting more depressed or becoming physically ill. In severe cases, depression can cause people to become incapable of communicating, unable to do routine activities, or suicidal. In these cases, it is essential to seek medical attention.People with depression may be reluctant to seek help because they feel that it is a sign of personal weakness or a character flaw or that they should be able to "pull out of it" on their own. We now know that depression, like other medical conditions, has a chemical and biological basis. Treatment for depression is safe and usually effective even for severely depressed people. However, there are skills you can learn that are easy to use and once made a part of your daily life will change the quality of your life forever. What do I do, or tell myself to not let things bother me? Help?
Q: come from a trouble back ground and am scared. Anyways, I hate my inlaws and i have to share a house with for now. I have everything of my own except the kitchen. Just hearing their voice makes me want to punch them. How do I stand them until i have to move? They have done so many things.
A: It's a temporary problem, look at it that way. Also, tell yourself that your anger doesn't hurt them but it could harm you in a number of ways including raising your blood pressure to a boiling point or destroying your marriage. Tell yourself, I want my health and marriage more than I want to scream right now. Consider talking to your spouse if the ears are open and conisder short term therapy. A little anger management can go a long way in dissipating emotional unrest. And also, pray. If it were me, I might walk around the house silently and when people asked what I was doing I would simply smile. You can control yourself and not others, Smiling will make them crazy. Just smile and repeat a mantra of peace inwardly. Say positive things to yourself such as I'm strong and I can endure this temporary disruption. Parents in law can be a trip sometimes, watch sit-coms built around that topic like Everybody Loves Raymond or soemthing and laugh out loud as you realize you are not alone. Finally, a little aerobic or yoga or a walk around the block can prove helpful in excercising your body and mind. When you feel better, you'll be better able to handle the stress in your life.Never, ever engage in a verbal battle with your parents-in-law, you've got too much to lose if you value your marriage.Don't win a battle and lose the war. Remain calm, cool and collected. This too shall pass. Every now and then just for the sheer joy of it, take their offspring off for a romantic evening. It doesn't have to cost a lot or even any money. Your goal is to take your mate out for a few hours to rekindle the romance...to remember how special that person is and what they mean to you. -You can enduer almost anything to keep your home intact. If they are abusive (verbally, emotionally or in any manner), address it. If they just make you nutsy, smile. Ever heard the expression, grin and bear it?

Q: i'm the type of person who really lets the little stuff bother me. i make little things bigger than what they are and spend most of my time stressed. i just want to know how to not let things bother me? how do i let small stuff go?
A: Get involved with activities and people who make you feel useful and who love to share laughter. Don't dwell on things that stress you out. When you have major problems that must be solved, use the direct approach and do all you can to get to their solutions. Then, remove yourself physically and stop your thoughts about those things that can be done later. Live life one day at a time.
