http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081208114819AAoklLq
Whenever I have to call a doctor, I generally wait 1-2 hours before calling back with just a polite reminder that I had called earlier and was still waiting for a call back. 3 1/2 hours is agonizing to wait, but they are probably just busy ...

I am 21 weeks pregnant. My doctor called today to tell me my blood work came back as not quite right.?
Q: He spoke to my mother because I wasn't home and told her it came back with a problem but nothing too worrisome ??? I called back and the lady in the office told me he had put down that it would be discussed tomorrow at my appointment. Well now Im worried sick. I have no idea what could be wrong, but also not be worrisome. Please any ideals?? Thank you :)
A: There could be any number of issues or it could be nothing at all. Some issues that come into light with pregnancy are anemia, gestational diabetes, and toxemia. If your doctor was willing to wait to speak to you about the abnormal blood work, then the abnormality is most likely anemia with is an iron deficiency which can be treated by adding a simple iron supplement with your prenatal vitamin. Anemia can cause fatigue and is not at all serious and as you can see is easily treated.Gestational diabetes is a little more serious and will be followed by a series of oral blood sugar tests. I'm not too sure what the effects of this are but as I said if it were something like this, your doctor would have discussed with you immediately.Toxemia is a condition that only effects you and not your baby. It's symptoms are very swollen ankles and feet, blurred vision, raised blood pressure, and disorientation. You may be experiencing some of the symptoms as they are common with pregnancy but do not panic, your doctor will discuss your options with you and something like this would have been discussed with you immediately as well.I think that seeing as how your doctor was not too concerned to speak with you right away that you may just have a vitamin deficiency that is easily treated with a supplement so stay calm and relax.Good luck and congrats!!
pregnant and doctor called and said the prenatal exam to see if baby has any birth defects came back positive?
Q: for down syndrome.i dont have this is my family and i see you can get it even if you dont but tomorrow im getting a sonogram .She also said at my last appointment i may not be as far as they thought .then she calls today tells me the worst news ever and was told to have sonogram tomorrow .did anyone screen positive but had a healthy baby or they made a mistake I pray im freaking out.im 22 thought i was healthy =(
A: It is possible that the results are a false positive. That happens sometimes. I haven't experienced this myself so I can't say that it happened to me and everything was fine, but I have heard of women who have gotten the test and it came back positive, but everything was fine. Good luck to you!!
I have developed a skin rash on my legs - doctor called it contact dermatitis. I need to know of products used?
Q: I have developed a skin rash on my legs - below the knee - the doctor called it "contact dermatitis". I am on day 3 of prednisone (a 5-day prescription) and no notable difference. I am using benadryl cream on it as well. Does anyone know of any products that could speed the healing process or take some color out of it. It itches from time to time but not terrible.
A: Initial treatment includes thorough washing with lots of water to remove any trace of the irritant that may remain on the skin. You should avoid further exposure to known irritants or allergens. In some cases, the best treatment is to do nothing to the area.
