Why does my power keep going out?
Q: I am constantly having to go down into my basement to flip the breaker switch that controls part of the power to my house. This one controls the garage door, the garage light, the light on the front of the house, the living room at the front of the house, the front hallway light, and the overhead kitchen light. Any thoughts?? It gets sooooo annoying running down to the basement so I can get the garage door open. Thanks! :)
A: Yea changing your load is a good idea you may consider addind a dedicated cir for the garage depending on where your panel is in relation to your garage it could be an easy job. Have a certified electrician do the work of course. Also you may have a tired breaker and replaceing it would not hurt just never up the size of it
why does the power keep going out?
Q: after like 15 minutes of having the window a/c on the power goes out.it has its own outlet and i tried dif ones.and it still goes out.lastyear it would only go uot if we turned two a/c's on upstairs.now there is only one and its being a bi tch even on low and energy save mode.what should i do?also there is not much on upstairs that takes a lot of power not even the tv.
A: does the power go out throughout the house or just to the A/C? If it is just the A/C you need to find out how many outlets are on the same circuit. and then find out how much amps are being used on the circuit and if the amount of amps on that circuit is greater than the size on the circurit braker you need to change your circuit braker size say from fifteen amps to twenty amps. There are a lot of do it your self books for around the house which will help you with small problams like this. Or you might find that just moving one of the other things on that circuit to another circiuit will work. .Good luck
Why does the bathroom lith power keep going off and on.?
Q: Ok the power in the bathroom went out along with one plug in the garage at the opposite end of the house. I switched out the light plug and GFI in the bathroom(old wiring). The light worked but not GFI. after a couple of days it started going out again. A couple of days at a time then work for a couple. An electrican came out and redid my work. And it does the same thing. Any tips's. A short in the lightfixture maybe?Does anyone know the next step I take to troubleshoot?
A: Call the electrician to come back again. He/she missed something. It might not have been apparent because it worked when the left. There are too many possibilites to tell you how to do the diagnostics. Because you are asking if it can be a short in the light fixture, I know that you are over your head on this one.Let the electrician have another try at it, now that you know it was not as simple as everyone originally thought. The first thing that I think of is an intermittant open circuit caused by a loose wire.Does the breaker keep blowing? If not, why is everyone using the term short? That shows a major lack of understanding electrical circuits.
