- How long should I stop a Category X drug before falling pregnant?
- Q: I am currently on a statin for FH (high cholesterol), I know it is a bad drug to take while pregnant but there is very little information about how long I should stop it before trying to fall pregnant. What is the wash-out period for this? Thanks
- A: I would think that you should probably stop taking the drug about a month in advance so the drug can be completly out of your system by the time you concieve. But ask your dr. They should be able to tell you for sure
- Suppose that a drug (drug x) could bind to chemically regulated bicarbonate ion channels found on the postsyna
- Q: Suppose that a drug (drug x) could bind to chemically regulated bicarbonate ion channels found on the postsynaptic membrane of a motor neuron in the anterior horn of the spinal cord. Explain why this drug could lead to the same symptoms of MG
- A: By MG do you mean myasthenia gravis? I don't know for sure, but here is my guess: bicarb has a negative charge, and I think it acts kind of like chloride in the sense that it hyperpolarizes the cell (it's an inhibitory signal). So if the binding of drug X activated these bicarb channels, it would make the postsynaptic neuron refractory to excitatory signals. Since we are dealing with a motor neuron, this would probably cause problems with moving muscles (the signal never reaches the muscle). I guess this would be like myasthenia gravis... although in that disease, it's an autoimmune problem where nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction are being attacked by immune cells.
- How do I get mey x-husband busted for drug abuse?
- Q: I posted this question before and I was not clear that I also have half of my kids custody. We share them equally. I am a good Mom married again with 3 other children. I do not drink or do drugs. My husband doesn't either. I love my kids so much it hurts. I have only recently learned of the shennanigans going on in my boys life and I want to make the right move first. He doesn't deserve them. He is ruining his life and my kids life. I want my kids and I don't feel I have any other choice than to get my X in trouble. That is the whole reasonI want them It is not safe for them. Right? If you dance with the devil you should get burned. I am not the one dancing with him, he is. So how do I get him without getting my kids and myself caught in the cross fire? Oh, and he shaves his head in hopes that a hair test won't be an option. Sly fox he is. I want good advice from a cop, retired cop or someone who has had the same problem. Thank you!
- A: Talk to your lawyer. File in court for full custody based on his drug use. When he can't pass court mandated drug tests, either he's got to clean himself up or the kids stay safe with you.Best of luck. Drugs really destroy lives, and you're wise to be upset.
