- Q: Three illegal aliens face multiple drug charges following their arrest Thursday by the Hamilton/Boone Drug Task Force. Investigators say they seized cocaine with a street value in excess of $100,000. Victor Gutierres, 26, and Aurelio Robles, 29, each are charged with two Class A felony counts of dealing cocaine and two Class C felony counts of cocaine possession. A Class A felony carries a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison. A Class C felony carries a maximum sentence of eight years. A third man, Jose Ochoa faces dealing and possession charges in Marion County. All three men entered the United States illegally from Mexico, police said. “They were dealing large amounts of coke,” said Maj. Randy Schalburg of the Hamilton/Boone Drug Task Force. According to Schalburg, the investigation began in August after investigators received information about Gutierres’ activities. They arranged for an undercover officer to make controlled buys from Gutierres. The undercover officer arranged to make three purchases totaling approximately 7 ounces of cocaine. All of the buys occurred in a restaurant parking lot at 106th Street and Michigan Road in Carmel. Surveillance officers tracked Gutierres to his home on Racquetball Way on the north side of Indianapolis. From there, they followed him to Robles’ home on Hiatt Street in Indianapolis. Investigators believe Robles was Gutierres’ source for the drugs. The undercover officer arranged to make a fourth purchase for one-half kilo of cocaine for $13,000 after Gutierres informed the officer that he could move more. “During the conversation, they advised the undercover officer they could move kilos,” Schalburg said. Surveillance tracked Robles to the Ochoa’s home in the vicinity of 34th Street and High School Road on the west side of Indianapolis, where officers observed a transaction between Ochoa and Robles. Robles later met with Gutierres. The two men then proceeded to 106th and Michigan Road Thursday. Assisted by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police, Carmel Police and air support from the Indiana State Police, Gutierres and Robles were taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Ochoa was arrested later at his home. Search warrants executed at Gutierres’ home uncovered about 2 ounces of cocaine, firearms and $1,000 in cash, Schalburg said. A search of Robles’ home found more coke, as well as transaction logs and phone records, he said. Two rifles and four semi-automatic weapons were recovered from Ochoa’s home as well as more coke and cash, Schalburg said. Gutierres and Robles are being held in the Hamilton County Jail. Ochoa was taken to the Marion County Jail. Schalburg said U.S. Immigration has been notified about their status. “We feel good about getting these three people off the streets as well as the guns,” Schalburg said. http://www.county29.net/cms2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6249&Itemid=1
- A: Good news? They shouldn't have been here to begin with and 3 is definitely NOT enough. When we talk about deporting 3 million, I'll crack a smile.
