- Can Zyrtec, Allegra or Nasonex cause high blood pressure?
- Q: I have been having some pretty serious allergies this summer and fall, that have led to ear infections and blockages. My blood pressure has always been normal, but the last few weeks it is very high, 160/110 to 150/91 range. The only big change in me is that I have been taking Zyrtec and Nasonex, and that was changed last week when they noticed the bp problem to Allegra and Nasonex. I just don't feel right. Have a followup with the doc this Friday, and we will do a more thourough workup to see what is going on. I stopped taking the drugs because of the BP thing just today, and the pressure in my ear is painful again. Anybody had a connection between these types of meds and high blood pressure resulting from their use?
- A: I sincerely hope that someone answers this question as well. I have been using Nasonex for about two weeks, and I noticed that my blood pressure was elevated within the same measurements. I'm afraid to continue using it.
- Has anyone ever been high on zyrtec?
- Q: I had to take a pill of Zyrtec because of hayfever and since yesterday, i'm in complete cotton wool !On the box, it says Zyrtec does not cause drowsiness but people react differently to the medication. It has been 24 hours since I taken it and I still feel completely numb and tired.Has it happened to you?Do you have any other antihistamines to recommend me?
- A: It makes me really sleepy as well, like you can't get out of bed the morning after you take it. I don't have hayfever but I take it for eczema flare ups. It's quite a hardcore anti-histermine really, the hospital has given it to me for anaphylactic shock before -which is a very serious allergic reaction- whilst they waited for the proper medicine to come. The drug itself is cetirizine, so maybe try Clarityn instead which is a different anti histermine drug. Piriteze, benedryl, boots and tesco own brand anti histermines are all exactly the same as Zirtek as well, same drug, same dosage.
- can you get high off of zyrtec?
- Q: i'm worried about my brother.i found a bottle of zyrtec in his drawer that doesnt belong to him,and he doesnt have a medical need for it.so i was curious if the medicine is commonly abused to get high,or if it cannot be used to get high.info.all the info u have please.
- A: The active ingredient in normal zyrtec (cetirizine HCl) is an antihistimine. It is not known to be addictive or mind-altering. The main reported side-effect was sleepiness. However, if the bottle you found was Zyrtec-D, which contains the stimulant psuedoephedrine, there is a possibility for abuse. Psuedoephedrine is a fairly common decongestant, but also a strong enough stimulant that when taken in excess, it can produce euphoria and restlessness.
